WILDERNESS CHALLENGE

Week 1: Wilderness Challenge
Scripture:
“Then we turned and journeyed into the wilderness of the Way of the Red Sea, as the Lord spoke to me, and we skirted Mount Seir for many days. “And the Lord spoke to me, saying: 'You have skirted this mountain long enough; turn northward. And command the people, saying, “You are about to pass through the territory of your brethren, the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. Therefore watch yourselves carefully. Do not meddle with them, for I will not give you any of their land, no, not so much as one footstep, because I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession. You shall buy food from them with money, that you may eat; and you shall also buy water from them with money, that you may drink. “For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He knows your trudging through this great wilderness. - Deuteronomy 2:1-7 (NKJV)

Reflection:
You’ve Been Here Long Enough!

How long have you been in a wilderness experience?  What have you experienced? How are you coping with staying focused and not getting off your path?

We all have those moments of trials and hardships, however, those trials and hardships are not meant to break us but mold us.  During our wilderness challenges God equips us with the tools to maintain and survive.  Although we may feel like the world is coming to an end, its not. (yet) The struggle is real.

The children of Isreal were in the Wilderness for 40 years. Can you even imagine what that was like?  The long anticipated promised land was at their reach as long as they were obedient to God. The Key is not to go back to the things of your past but to remember and learn from it.  Trust God, learn what is required and move faithfully forward.  As believers, nothing comes easy especially when you are following God and his word. Doubt and fear will always hinder.

2 Timothy 1:7 states For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of sound mind. KJV We must not be afraid. He has given us the power to make it.  His love is powerful and with that all things are possible.

It’s time to move forward.  Don’t get off your path nor out of focus.  Your promise is right in front of you. Don’t let doubt or fear hinder you.  As with the children of Isreal, God has proven that he is always with you. Three keys to staying focused: 1. Pray Daily (Talk to God) 2. Study (Read/Study the Bible) 3.Fast (not always for material things)

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, We come today with humble hearts to thank you for walking with us through our Wilderness journeys. Thank you for never leaving us and equipping us with the necessities to survive. In Jesus Name Amen.
