SHINING FOR HIS GLORY
Week 4: Shining for His Glory
Scripture: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Fathers in heaven.” Matthew 5: 16 (NKJV)
Reflection: Jesus calls us the “light of the world” just as he is the light. The light is meant to be seen, it pushes back darkness and provides direction. As believers our lives are not meant to be hidden. The way we live, speak, and serve should reflect the love of Christ so that others are drawn to him.
Jesus doesn’t say shine so people will praise you, he says shine so that people will “glorify your Father in Heaven.” If we are truly believers, we will draw attention away from ourselves and always redirect it back to God. We are supposed to resist to hiding the light because fear, pride and the pressures of the world can tempt us to keep quiet like everyone else. But Jesus calls us courageously to shine even if it’s uncomfortable so that others can seek him.
Life Application: Ask yourself, “Where can I shine today?” It can be at work, at home or even in your community. Every good work becomes a beam of light that points back to God.
Ask yourself, are you living in a way that reflects Christ to others? Do people see his love through your actions?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me to be a light in this world. Help me to live in such a way that others see Your love through my actions. Keep me humble so that my life points people to You, not to myself. Use me today to reflect Your goodness and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
